Columbus School of Law Distinguished Alumni Awards

Purpose and Philosphy

The Columbus School of Law will recognize and honor its distinguished alumni. The purpose of the annual alumni leadership award is to recognize outstanding alumni for their individual achievements, contributions to their industries or professions, service to their community and demonstrated loyalty to Columbus School of Law.

Frequency 

The Columbus School of Law designates up to four Award recipients per year. Awards are presented during Class Reunion or an appropriate event.  Awards are not presented in absentia; however, posthumous Awards are considered.

Criteria 

The Columbus School of Law Alumni Awards are intended to honor service in any one or more of the following categories

Award Committee

The Columbus School of Law Awards Committee comprises up to five individuals appointed by the Law School Dean and includes the Dean.  


Selection Procedure

The Awards Committee selects the Award recipients from among the nominations that it receives.
The selection of Award recipients is subject to the approval of Awards Committee, the Dean of the Law School and to such University approvals, if any, as may be necessary.

 The Columbus School of Law Alumni Awards are intended to honor service in any one or more of the following categories:

    • Sustained or extraordinary service to the legal profession reflecting the qualities of intellect, integrity, leadership and responsibility that Columbus School of Law fosters.
    • Service to society, recognizing a signal contribution to the public welfare that exemplifies the values of Columbus School of Law.
    • Demonstrates the importance of a Columbus School of Law education and is loyal to the law school with their alumni involvement or philanthropic support.
    • A person of such integrity and stature that the Columbus School of Law will take pride in bestowing this recognition.

Because of the number of exceptional Law School alumni who could be recognized for these awards, the recipients must attend the presentation ceremony in order to receive their awards. Should a recipient be unable to attend, another recipient will be chosen.
